How Vidrplay processes personal data

Last updated

October 13, 2026

Introduction

This privacy policy explains what personal data Vidrplay collects, why, and how we protect it.

Personal data is any information that can be linked to a person, such as a name, an email address or an IP address. Wirelabs AS (org. no. 936 541 186), Øvre Bjørkåsen 13, 5228 Nesttun, Norway, is the data controller for the personal data described here.

For questions about how we process your personal data, contact us at support@vidrplay.com.

What We Collect and Why

We never sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Your account

Name, email address and a securely hashed password, so you can log in and we can contact you about your account.

Billing

Your plan, billing address, VAT number and payment history. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach us.

Your content

Videos, titles, descriptions, player settings and allowed domains, to host and play your videos.

Technical data

  • While you are logged in, your session stores your IP address and browser type to keep the session secure. Sessions expire after inactivity.
  • IP addresses are used briefly to limit abuse, for example repeated login attempts. These counters expire within minutes.
  • Server logs used for security and troubleshooting are kept only as long as needed for that purpose.

People who watch your videos

The embedded player and share pages set no cookies and do not track viewers. To deliver a video, our content delivery network receives the viewer's IP address and the address of the page the video is embedded on. We count how many times a video is played, without storing who played it.

Legal Basis

  • Contract: to provide the Service, manage your account and handle billing (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • Legal obligation: to keep accounting records as required by Norwegian bookkeeping law (Art. 6(1)(c)).
  • Legitimate interest: to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and send essential service messages (Art. 6(1)(f)).

Data Processors and Location

We use carefully selected providers, bound by data processing agreements, to run the Service:

  • bunny.net (BunnyWay d.o.o., Slovenia, EU): application hosting, database and backups in Sweden with a backup copy in Germany, and video storage, encoding and delivery.
  • Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., Ireland, EU): payments, invoices and VAT calculation.
  • Resend (Resend, Inc., USA): sending account emails such as verification and password reset.

Your account data is stored in the EU/EEA. To play videos quickly worldwide, video files may be cached at delivery locations outside the EEA. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, the transfer is protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

How Long We Keep Data

  • Account and content: until you delete them or your account. Deleted data disappears from our backups within 30 days.
  • Billing records: for five years, as required by Norwegian bookkeeping law, even after the account is deleted.
  • Sessions and abuse counters: from a few minutes up to the end of your session.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. You can update your name and email and delete your account yourself in Settings. For anything else, contact us at support@vidrplay.com; we respond within 30 days.

Access

See what data we hold about you

Correction

Correct inaccurate information

Deletion

Have your data deleted

If you believe we process your personal data unlawfully, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).

Cookies

Vidrplay only uses cookies that are strictly necessary for the Service to work:

  • Session cookie keeps you logged in and expires when your session ends.
  • XSRF-TOKEN protects forms against cross-site request forgery.

Your light or dark mode preference is stored in your browser only. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, so we do not ask for cookie consent.

Security

All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, passwords are hashed, and video playback uses signed links that expire. Access to production systems is restricted, and the database is backed up every night.

Changes

If we change this privacy policy, we publish the updated version here with a new date, and notify you by email about material changes.

Terms and conditions for use of Vidrplay

Last updated

1. Acceptance of Terms

Vidrplay is operated by Wirelabs AS (org. no. 936 541 186), Norway ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using Vidrplay (the "Service"), you accept these terms of service ("Terms"). If you use the Service on behalf of a company or other organisation, you accept the Terms on its behalf and confirm that you are authorised to do so. If you do not accept the Terms, you must not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Vidrplay is a video hosting service. It lets you:

  • upload videos, which we encode for adaptive streaming and deliver through a content delivery network,
  • play videos you host elsewhere, such as on Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive or your own server,
  • customise an ad-free video player and embed it on your websites, or share videos on a share page,
  • organise videos in projects and restrict where they may be embedded.

We may improve, change or discontinue features of the Service. We will tell you in advance about changes that materially reduce what your plan includes.

3. Your Account

3.1 Registration

  • You must give accurate and complete information when you register, and keep it up to date.
  • You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian.
  • One person or organisation may not use multiple trial accounts.

3.2 Account security

  • You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything that happens in your account.
  • Tell us immediately at support@vidrplay.com if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.

4. Plans, Trial and Payment

4.1 Free trial

New accounts get a 14-day free trial without a payment card. When the trial ends, you need a paid plan to add new projects and videos.

4.2 Subscriptions

  • Plans are billed monthly or yearly in advance and renew automatically until cancelled.
  • Prices are shown in US dollars and exclude VAT. VAT and similar taxes are added where applicable, based on your billing address and any VAT number you provide.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
  • When you change plan, the price is prorated for the rest of the billing period.

4.3 Cancellation and refunds

  • You can cancel at any time from the Billing page. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
  • Payments are non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise.
  • We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice. New prices apply from your next billing period.

4.4 Plan limits

Each plan includes limits on the number of videos, storage and monthly bandwidth, as described on our website. If you exceed them, we may ask you to upgrade, and we may limit uploads until you are within your plan again.

5. Your Content

5.1 Ownership

You keep all rights to the videos, titles, descriptions and other material you upload or link to ("Your Content"). You give us a non-exclusive licence to store, copy, encode, transmit and display Your Content only as needed to provide the Service to you and to the viewers you share it with. The licence ends when you delete Your Content.

5.2 Your responsibility

  • You must have all rights and permissions needed to publish Your Content, including consent from people who appear in it.
  • You are responsible for Your Content and for where you choose to embed or share it.
  • Videos you link from other services are played from their original location; those services' terms also apply.

5.3 Removal

We may remove or block content that is illegal or violates these Terms, and we respond to notices of copyright infringement sent to support@vidrplay.com.

6. Acceptable Use

6.1 Permitted use

  • Hosting and sharing videos for lawful personal or business purposes
  • Embedding videos on websites, platforms and courses you control

6.2 Prohibited use

  • Content that is illegal, sexually exploits minors, incites violence or harassment, or infringes others' rights
  • Malware, phishing or other harmful content
  • Attempts to bypass plan limits, signed links or domain restrictions
  • Unauthorised access to the Service or other users' accounts
  • Reselling the Service as a standalone hosting product without our written consent

7. Availability and Liability

7.1 Availability

  • We work to keep the Service available and secure, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available or error-free.
  • We may carry out maintenance that briefly affects availability, and will try to do so at quiet times.
  • We back up account data regularly, but you should keep your own copies of your original video files.

7.2 Limitation of liability

  • Our total liability under these Terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profit, revenue or data.
  • These limits do not apply to losses caused by gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or where the law does not allow them.

8. Termination

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. This permanently deletes your projects, videos and uploaded files, and cancels your subscription.

We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms. Where reasonable, we will warn you first and give you the opportunity to download your data.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. We will notify you of material changes by email or in the Service at least 30 days before they take effect. If you continue to use the Service after that, you accept the updated Terms.

10. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by Norwegian law. We will first try to resolve any dispute amicably. Disputes that cannot be resolved that way belong to the Norwegian courts, with Bergen District Court as the agreed venue, unless mandatory consumer rules give you the right to bring a case where you live.
